MAKEUP FOR MIAMI FUNKSION FASHION WEEK 2011

Just a quick little update...so very tired today and need to take a nap before I head back into Miami for Funksion Fashion Week 2011.

Yesterday March 23rd kicked off the shows for Funkshion Fashion Week.  It is on 8th and Ocean and it was smack dab in the middle of the street, sand and water!!  Tons of people everywhere, hot sun and beautiful people!! I had tons of fun but it was crazy hectic.

There were 2 shows by Richie Rich:
Villionaire and Sexxy Pop
I will discuss the looks at a later date but I just wanted to keep you updated.

Both Royce and Suzy from Basketball Wives were in the show as well, so that was fun!! They were very nice.  (I have a story about that so stay tuned)

Enjoy the images!

Richie Rich & Me (post show) - yes, I look exhausted!!!
Basketball Wives Suzy & I - I am sooo tired at this point, but Suzy looks great!! Oh by the way, I think she had on 5 inch heels and wings...yes, I said wings!! LOL

Basketball Wives Royce Reed & I - I had flats on and she had on some mega heels!! Just to give you an idea of how cute and petite Royce is.

Stay tuned!!

Hugs and kisses and all of your makeup wishes!!

ORANGE

If there is one thing I will be rockin' this Spring is orange!  I have always thought this shade looks good on almost everyone...peaches, corals and just plain 'ole ORANGE!!!  Gotta love it!! You can spice up your wardrobe with orange pieces...with a blouse, a shoe...yes, a shoe...so chic, with crisp white and beige pieces to offset it...be careful though-wearing a bright orange with black can look a little HALLOWEENY!!

Wearing a beautiful coral or orange shade of lipstick or gloss is another way to make things pop simply.  Add it to your daily makeup regimen...for work wear a coral and for night...ORANGE!! With a little bronzer to warm up your skin as well is key...just coming off of winter, most of us have pasty skin right about now.  The one thing to keep in mind is to have fun and remember it's only makeup....YOU CAN ALWAYS WASH IT OFF!!

AIRBRUSH MAKEUP FOR YOUR WEDDING

As you all may know, airbrush makeup is the number one choice for brides.  I probably would say 75% of my brides request airbrush makeup and the rest are either unfamiliar with it or just don't care. The best way to see if you like airbrush makeup is to request a trial/consultation with a wedding makeup artist in your area.  This way you can see the wear of the formula on your skin.  Some foundations (in my opinion) work better than others.  For example, I love OCC airbrush makeup because it really looks like skin.  On the other hand, Kett is used by many but not my fave airbrush makeup for many skintypes.  Both are waterbased but for some reason both do not wear the same.  I usually reach for the OCC before the Kett.  However, recently I tried Dinair and really enjoyed it.My first experience with Dinair a few years back did not go so well.  I found it to be very drying. It literally fell into every crack and pore! For people who really like the dewy look than Temptu (it contains silicone) may be the answer.

If all of this is making your head ache remember you really shouldn't be worrying about this anyway.  This is the job of the makeup artist you hire.  Just remember to request a trial from an experienced makeup artist and see for yourself.  Go to my site at http://www.thebloomingbeauty.com/ and click on my About Us page.  There you will get some information on the differences between airbrush makeup and traditional makeup.

I actually took a mobile photo of myself in the Dinair airbrush makeup.  I wasn't going anywhere in particular but the girl at my local supermarket had to let me know how gorgeous my skin looked! You let me know what you think. Just try to focus on my skin not my big 'ole head!

My foundation and blush have been airbrushed on and lasted all day! I also used Moist and Dewey (a moisturizer by Dinair) over the whole application which gives the skin a satin finish. Without the Moist & Dewey the makeup can look very dry. Not very nice! Here is the image of me..not the best image but you get the gist right?!?

MAKEUP FOR GUISE MAGAZINE

Last Friday, February 4th at Aperture Professional Studios in Miami; I had the pleasure of working with some amazing people. Guise Magazine is doing a feature on Aleksandar Sale Stojanaovic for their first issue releasing in March 2011. He is the owner of Miami based 3B Productions, which produces FUNKSHION Fashion Week in Miami. Funkshion launched in 1999 and features designers from Europe, the U.S. and also Latin America.

Although very handsome, I didn't take a pic. of Sale but I have included a sneak peak shot of the model (Nikki D.) that will be featured in the magazine with him. Nikki D. is in the makeup chair mid prep. taken with my Samsung Vibrant cellphone. She and I  hit it off right from the beginning and were giggling throughout the whole day. She is such a sweetheart. I love my phone by the way because it produces images like this...gotta love it!  I should have the actual shots from the shoot soon from the fantastic and amazing photographer, Ben Shaul.  Besides his infectious energy, he is literally like a breath of fresh air!

The magazine is released in March and will be available on a quarterly basis (can't wait to see it) and I am pretty gosh darn excited!  So without further ado...here is Nikki D. (keep in mind, it was taken with my phone!!!)

Yes, I know this image is not the best but you get the picture, right? No pun intended!

The makeup I used on her:
Foundation: RCMA
Powder:Graftobian & MUFE
Face Shimmer:Fawntastic Frost
Blush:MAC Ambering Rose
Shadows:NYX Ultra Pearl in Walnut Pearl, MAC Ricepaper
Eyeliner:MAC Blacktrack Fluidline
Lips:MAC Spice lippencil, Stila Lipglaze Kitten
Mascara: MAC Haute & Naughty Lash

Stay tuned for updates on the shoot.

So that's it in a nutshell.
Have a BE YOU tiful day!

TEA TREE OIL

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I try to reach for a natural remedy before a drug store product.  I think the main reason is because I have always been so sensitive. Growing up I would get very bad rashes and had vicious allergies that would wreak havoc on my skin, eyes and overall mood. Let's just say it wasn't fun or pretty.

In any case, as I got older ( and wiser) I started to find natural remedies for my many ailments. I have been told by many that my skin is very smooth and have been mistaken for someone 10 years my junior...no, I am not tootin' my own horn but hey, I must be doing something right! Right?

One particular product I tend to come back to time and time again is Tea Tree Oil (I purchase mine from here vitacost.com. It is considered a natural antibacterial disinfectant and I happen to be partial to the smell. Call me weird because it does have an interesting smell but I rather enjoy it...the taste however is not my favorite.  It has been used for hundreds of years originally by the aborigine tribes because of its many medicinal benefits.

Tea tree oil can be used on acne, great for fungal and bacterial skin ailments, blisters, rashes, wounds...you can even use it as a mouthwash. It can also be used by the whole family which is an added bonus. You don't have to worry about using it on the babies or kiddies.  Just remember to cut it with water or olive oil if you are using a pure version.  Sometimes you can buy it already mixed with Vitamin E.  I could go on and on.

I wouldn't necessarily whip it out and put it on any of my clients during a gig or anything like that because of its strong scent.  Mainly because I wouldn't want to offend anyone but like I said I have learned to appreciate the smell....and so has my skin ( and body for that matter).

Stay "BE YOU"tiful!

JANUARY 2011 BRIDE

Bride:      Holly

Location: Atlantic Hotel
                Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Holly is a very busy woman.  We didn't get to have a trial due to her job and her traveling and the time frame we were working with....she called me approximately 2 weeks prior to the wedding ( I was referred by her hairdresser). No worries for me.  I am a professional of course.  Thank God for the computer!  She emailed me some images of how she would like to look. She happens to favor the sexy glamour look. I asked her a few pertinent questions and before you know it....VOILA!!  Meet Holly!!
